# Editor setup

> Add Yocrow to your editor as a stdio MCP server.

Your editor starts `yocrow mcp` as a local process. The entry has no URL and no secrets because the Companion uses the sign-in stored on your device.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Sign in with [`yocrow login`](https://docs.yocrow.dev/companion/sign-in) before you add the entry.

**Kiro**

File: `~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json`

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "yocrow": { "command": "yocrow", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}
```

**Cursor**

File: `~/.cursor/mcp.json`

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "yocrow": { "command": "yocrow", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}
```

**Claude Code**

Run:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add yocrow -- yocrow mcp
```

Or edit `~/.claude.json`:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "yocrow": { "command": "yocrow", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}
```

**VS Code**

File: `.vscode/mcp.json` in your workspace

```json theme={null}
{
  "servers": {
    "yocrow": { "type": "stdio", "command": "yocrow", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}
```

**Zed**

File: `~/.config/zed/settings.json`

```json theme={null}
{
  "context_servers": {
    "yocrow": { "command": "yocrow", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}
```

Restart the editor after saving the file.

## If the editor cannot find yocrow

Editors launched from the dock may not load your shell PATH. Use the full path to the binary.

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "yocrow": { "command": "/Users/you/.local/bin/yocrow", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}
```

On Windows the path is `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Yocrow\bin\yocrow.exe`.
